I’m watching a South African television show which is all about coffee. The show’s presenter visit the posh coffee shops around South Africa. In tonight’s episode, the presenter was visiting a coffee shop where the owner of the shop is an Israeli. As the owner was telling us about his life as a soldier and mentioning Jerusalem, he said that Israelis like their coffee a lot. As I was thinking about how he mentioned Jerusalem, I was thinking about Jesus. If the Israelis like their coffee so much, I wonder whether Jesus also drank coffee?
Mat 4:2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. (ESV)
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (KJV)
Heb 4:14-15 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (ESV)
We can see in all of the above scriptures that Jesus is flesh like us as well as God. In other words, He became hungry as well just like us. He too had to eat and drink, rest and sleep, dress and bathe. He became flesh and due to this, he can sympathize with our weaknesses, our temptations because He too was tempted.
Think about it. Jesus might also have had a coffee just like me and you drink coffee today. Although we don’t read that that Jesus drank coffee or ate, we know that He had to because He became hungry and was flesh while being God at the same time.
Jesus can sympathize with what you are going through. Just take that thing that you are struggling with, to Him and He will be able to help you with i
