When you open up any news site, the first thing you will see is anything related to the Covid virus. Then this will follow with events where a country needs a leader or other people who stand up against the current ruling party and the president. Further down the news feed, you will find stories of people who was murdered, robbed and kidnappings. You then leave the news site to go to work. Along the way someone gives you the middle finger before you arive at work. Your day at work is pretty good but you get a call at home after work, of someone you know who was the victim of the Covid virus.

What hope do we have for the future, when the world looks this bleak?

When I was thinking about this topic at hand for today’s podcast, I remember what I used to do and what I do when I look an aswer to a specific topic at hand. Researching the Bible for answers. Quick question: When you are looking for an answer to a specific problem at hand, do you consult man or God? Man can be in the form of Googling the answer to your problem because those articles was written by man but what you read in the Bible, was given to us by God. So what can we hope for the future, when we consult the Word of God?

There’s quite a few things we can stand firm upon, which will give us hope for the future.

  1. God will always be there.

Someone told me that in the past when they were going through a time where there was an operation that they had to go through, that they were scared. This person told me that all that he/she could do through this time where he/she was so scared, was to ask God: Please help me. Please carry me through this and God did. The operation was a success, the person recovered from the operation and God kept this person save when they had to walk outside as part of the recovering exercise.

God states in His Word:

Deu 31:6  Be strong and be courageous; you should not be afraid, and you should not be in dread from their presence, for Yahweh your God is the one going with you; he will not leave you alone and he will not forsake you.”

  • God hears our prayers and help

Many pray about something for a while or for years and after a while or years, they ask why God haven’t helped them with their problem or in their distress. This is a valid question but sometimes I do think God helps us, maybe not in the way that we want it. We want God to help us with certain problem in our way. We keep on praying for it and praying for it but a small voice (or feeling) inside you, keeps on telling you that you should do this. We want God to remove that problem from our life but we do not listen to His guidance, the guidance on the Holy Spirit which is that “knowing” inside of you. That thing you know you should go and do but instead of being obedient, you keep on doing what you want to. God’s Word says:

Psa 34:17  They cry out and Yahweh hears and delivers them from all of their troubles.

There were many times in my life where I prayed for something but I knew that it was not God’s will. We sometimes wonder why God doesn’t heal us or that person we love. We sometimes wonder why bad things happen to those who love God and we wonder about this, that and tomorrow. This can take away the joy from your life. Rather that pondering and keep on wondering, why not ask God for His help, stand up in prayer and continue with your day. Tomorrow you come back, ask Him again and repeat. DO not stress about it for the whole of your day. It will take away your joy.

  • Our current condition, is not our eternity

The world in it’s current condition, is not our eternity. It’s not going to look like this forever, not in it’s current state and not for us as individuals.

Firstly, the world will be made new. We read about this in Revelation.

Rev 21:1  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

The first heaven and the first earth (world as we know it now), will pass away. Will go away. A new earth and heaven, there will be.

For the second part, we find the following in God’s Word:

Joh 14:1  “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

Joh 14:2  In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

Joh 14:3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Earth is not our final destination as believers in Jesus Christ. Jesus says that He went away to prepare a place for you and me, where our Father and His is. In heaven and this place of God the Father have many rooms. There are thus enough place for anyone and everyone who have faith in Jesus.

Although the world in it’s current condition looks bleak and we go through difficulties, remember these three things. You are not alone, God will help and this is not your eternity as believer in Jesus Christ. Hold on to these things. This will pull you through the difficult times, the Word of God which is Jesus.
