A few questions answered

Hi dear reader. The following is the transcript of the podcast called: A few questions answered. If you would like to rather listen to the podcast episode, you can click on the following link:

If you have a question with regards to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Christianity, faith, please contact us through our website, and we will try to answer them here on the podcast.

Our first question for today is:

Can you become a Christian, by attending a church sermon or service?

Pastor/Evangelist preach and Holy Spirit do the conviction.

Holy Spirit convicts:

Joh 16:8-9  And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me,

When Holy Spirit convicts person who attends sermon or service of his/her sin, then that person will repent and give their live to Jesus

Act 3:19  Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, Act 3:20  that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,

And when you do that, you are a child of God.

Gal 3:26  For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,

Next question:

But how do we know who is genuine Christians?

Mat 7:15-20  “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits: they do not gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles, do they? In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree is not able to produce bad fruit, nor a bad tree to produce good fruit. Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. As a result, you will recognize them by their fruits.

And what is these fruits the Bible talks about, on how we can recognize a true Christian by?

Gal 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such things there is no law.

Do we know when Jesus Christ will return? Will it be 2030?

Mat 24:36  “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

Mat 24:44  Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

We do not know when Jesus will return. The Bible says that only God, the Father knows. And that we need to be prepared because Jesus will come unexpectedly

Mat 24:37  For just as the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

Mat 24:38  For as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark.

Mat 24:39  And they did not know anything until the deluge came and swept them all away. So also the coming of the Son of Man will be.

Last question for today:

Christians always say that they will pray for you. Why don’t they help you? I don’t need prayer, I need help.

For me, when I say that I will pray for someone else, is because I can’t offer them help in that present moment. I might not have the means to help them in that moment. What I as Christian can offer, is a prayer and my support. The Word of God teaches us as children of God, as Christians, to pray for one another:

James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

1 Timothy 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,

Job 42:10 And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

I too sometimes want people to help me when I confide in them but I need to understand, that my help comes from God.

Psalm 121:1 I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

If that person (Christian) who I have confide in, offers me help, then I know that the help that person offer me, is something that the Lord have put onto that person’s heart. But I have to testify. That my help most of the time come from others who do not know about my problem or situation. Help comes when I least expects it from others. By means of someone who sends us food or other times is provision by God by blessing me with a new client. Don’t trust man, trust God.

Many people say they can’t hear this

Hi dear reader. You can either read this article or listen to this article as a podcast episode. Here is the link to the podcast for this article:–They-cant-hear-this-eq3n3k

Today’s topic is one which I hear a lot from people.

Many say that they don’t hear the voice of God.

We all desire to hear the One who have created us and the world. The One who are spoken about too little but we know that He excist. We are sometimes in difficult situations where we need to make decisions and in dire need to hear from God. What we should or shouldn’t do. We expect an audible voice to come to us.

Many Spirit filled people, preachers of God’s Word says that the voice of God is one which speaks in your heart. It’s not a loud audible voice but a still, soft one. Before God pulled me to His Son Jesus Christ in 2015, I didn’t understand this. Or so I thought. I will never forget the time in 2015 where I called out to God for help. We have lost everything and lived in a tool shed (Wendy house). I was driving to a client of mine and as I was driving, I was talking to God. It was but a few meters from my client’s home, where I heard: “I love you Marleen.” Immediately I stopped the car because my eyes were full of tears. The presence of God was so much and to have heard His voice, was incredible. From that day on, I knew what God’s voice sounded like. It’s like God’s Word says:

John 10:27-28 – King James Version

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Although I and many state that they can hear God’s voice, you might be frustrated because you never heard God’s voice. At the moment I am going through a very difficult time where I need God’s advice. I need to hear from God daily to know what I should do in the currect situation which I find myself in. So what do I do? I shove my nose into God’s Word every morning and if I get the chance throughout the day, I will do so again. I am constantly seeking, going through and reading the Word of God, which is the Bible, to see what God wants me to do in this situation. Although the advice I get, aren’t the things I want to do, I know that this is what God wants me to do in this situation. I know what His will is and because I love Jesus, I will do God’s will.

It’s not always easy or comfortable to do what God wants us to do because of our flesh who are against His Word. Our flesh that wants to do the things that are opposite of God’s Word for example, when someone hurts you or your family, you don’t want to forgive them or show good towards them. But the thing is, God wants us to do that. He wants us to forgive them like He forgive us and He wants us to show good towards our enemies so that we can be called children of God. What does this mean? That when you forgive and do good to those who persecute you, they will see Jesus. God says:

Mat 5:44-48  But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

We ask why we don’t hear God’s voice. It’s because we don’t open up the Bible and read it. Because what is written in the Bible, is God’s voice. Next time when you are in dire need or longing to hear God’s voice, open up your Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, there are many websites out there where you can read the Bible, like Even if you are just doubting whether God love you or when you feel alone, read what God says in His Word. He will never forsake you nor leave you and He loved the world so much, that He have sent His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish.

What a hero looks like

You can either read the article or listen to the article as a podcast episode. Just click on the link to listen to this article.

A few weeks back, my children and I watched a locally filmed movie. The film was about a thirteen-year-old girl, who gave her own life to save that of her six-year-old brother. It was a sad story, seeing how the film ended with how the father found his daughter, who froze to death. If you are interested in watching the film, it’s called Racheltjie de Beer and I will leave a link in the description of the podcast episode.

After watching the film, we have discussed it and the lesson that was learned was what heroism look like. It is someone who give their own life, to save someone else.

Joh 19:16  So then he handed him over to them in order that he could be crucified. So they took Jesus,

Joh 19:17  and carrying for himself the cross, he went out to the place called The Place of a Skull (which is called Golgotha in Aramaic),

Joh 19:18  where they crucified him, and with him two others, one on each side, and Jesus in the middle.

Joh 19:28  After this, Jesus, knowing that now at last everything was completed, in order that the scripture would be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty.”

Joh 19:29  A jar full of sour wine was standing there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a branch of hyssop and brought it to his mouth.

Joh 19:30  Then when he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, “It is completed,” and bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.

Jesus was crucified for our sin so that we don’t have to pay the price ourselves. Then He resurrected from the dead after three days (John 20) and now sits on the Right hand of God, the Father.

Jesus is a hero. What He has done on the cross for us, is heroism because He has given His life for us. If Jesus didn’t do that, do you know that we all then would have paid the price for the sin we do, ourselves?

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What happens when we sin?

Isa 59:2  But your wrongs have separated you from your God, and your sins have made him hide his face so that he doesn’t hear you.

Sin separates us from God. We need Jesus, who has laid down His life for us, our sin, as an atonement. In the Old Testament, Leviticus 8 and 16 to be precise, shows us the atonement for sin was the blood of animals. The word atonement in Hebrew is kâphar and it means: cover-up. The blood of the animals covered up our sin, that was why they had to be offered for our sins. But with the New Testament, the atonement for our sin is Jesus Christ. He has shed His blood on the cross for our sin.

Why is this necessary? Why can’t I just not take the offer that Jesus did and see what happens? Why can’t I pay for my own sin?

To understand what happens to us if we do not take up the new testament, faith and believe in Jesus Christ of what He did for us on the cross, is to go over to the book of Revelation. The book of Revelation was written by John who was given the revelation of what is to come.

Rev 1:1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

So what does it say about those who do not believe? Who wants to pay the price themselves?

Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Here’s the full passage:

Rev 20:11  Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.

Rev 20:12  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

Rev 20:13  And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.

Rev 20:14  Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Rev 20:15  And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Jesus Christ, the hero who gave His life for us, is the One you need to accept in faith. He is the One who you need to follow, invite into your life, live according to His commandments, have faith in Him so that you do not pay the price for your own sin. Paying the price for your own sin means to pay it in eternity, in hell.

When I grew up, we heard a lot about hell, Satan, God and Jesus. These days you do not hear it as much, it’s not preached as much and I want to preach it because hearing about hell and what will happen one day, might just be what you need to hear.

Look up to Jesus, in order to see what a real hero looks like and please consider giving your life to Him. If you had in the past but lost faith in Him for whatever reason, He is still waiting for you to come back to Him again. Do not miss the opportunity now because it might be too late tomorrow.

Roaring lion

You can either read the article or listen to the article as a podcast episode. Just click on the link to listen to this article.

Thoughts are something that travels through our minds, each and every day. Thoughts like:

“I am not going to make it. I can’t do this anymore.”

“It hasn’t happened yet. This thing that I have prayed or hoped for years. It’s not going to happen.”

“There’s so much unemployement in our country since the Covid started. I don’t think I will ever find a job.”

Today I want to teach you something about our enemy. God says in His Word:

1 Pet 5:8 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (NKJV)

The devil is someone who walk around, trying to find the ones which have prayed about something for so long, asking God to help them and achieve something in their lives. Then the devil come and plants a seed of disbelief into your thoughts. That part that says: “It’s not going to happen,” or “I don’t think I will ever find a job,” or “I can’t do this anymore.”

You see, when the devil see that you are struggling, he will come like a roaring lion that wants to devour those beliefs of yours. That trust you have put in God to help you. Satan comes and tear that dream, that hope and that faith of yours into pieces like a lion tears it’s prey apart. He doesn’t want you to belief that you are going to find that job, nor does he want you to keep on hoping for that thing you have prayed about years ago. As children of God, we need to start recognizing the signs that shows us that Satan is starting to plant seeds of disbelief in our thoughts and hearts. When you start to hear yourself talking negative things or even thinking them, then stop. This is what God’s word says in verse 9 of 1 Pet 5.

Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

What should we do?

Resist the devil. In other words, when we are made to recognize the lies that are implanted in our thoughts by the Holy Spirit, we need to resist those thoughts. God one day gave me an instruction. He told me to memorise His Word.

Joshua 1:8 ESV / 665 helpful votes

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

The reason why God gave me the instruction to memorise His Word, is because when the devil come with his seeds of disbelief, those lies of his, that I can kill it with the Word of God. Let’s say you are in a situation where you are worried about where your next meal will come from because you are unemployed. Then remember what God says:

Genesis 22:13-14

Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son. Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the Lord it will be provided.”

This is where God provided an offering for Abraham in the place of his son. God have provided to Abraham, just like Abraham walked in faith to the place where the offering needed to happen. You do the same. You ask God to help you with your next meal and then you stand firm in your faith. A know of an elderly woman who are a devouted believer in Christ Jesus and child of God. She I retired, a ripe age of in her 80’s and son who still works, live with her. Her son helps her with daily tasks but there are months where she doesn’t know how she will be able to pay all the medical bills nor her other obligations. Then she take the medical bill in her hands and while she prays, she puts the bill down in front of her, in front of God and she asks Him to help her with this medical bills. She told me that there was times when the medical aid have paid the full sum of the outstanding amount and other times people will bring food to her, thus she has less that she have to spend on food and more to pay on the bills. God provides, each and every time. Maybe not in the way that we might hope of think but in His unique way.

Start to be vigilant, look out for the lies and disbeliefs that Satan plants in your thoughts. You will find another job. Pray, ask God’s help and go out and seek for it.

You will get through this. Pray, ask God’s help and go out and seek councelling to help you get through this but also belief that God gives you the strength to endure this situation and every single day you need to go through it.

Also, surround yourself with people who are believers of Jesus Christ, that can support you and open your Bible every single day, so that what you read, can demolish the roaring lion.

Thank you for listening to today’s podcast and I thank God for His help with this episode. Without Him and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I will not be able to bring you this content and His Word to you.

God bless.

Do you remember?

You can either read the article or listen to the article as a podcast episode. Just click on the link to listen to this article.

When I grew up, which was in the 90’s, I grew up with a different kind of school routine. In the mornings the school would either unite together in the school’s hall or on the school grounds. There we will hear about upcoming things for the day and week and the school’s principal will also read out of the Bible and pray. After that we would adjourn to our different classes, a.k.a. our next period on our class timetable. In Grade 1-3 you only had one teacher for the whole of your day. You did not change class. So what happened was that the first half an hour of your day, was a period where your teacher will teach a class that consist of Bible teaching. After that, then only the rest of the day come with other subjects.

In the higher grades, you might not have Bible class in the beginning on your day but later on in another timeslot, depending on how your timetable was programmed for you and your class. But you had a Bible class scheduled on your school timetable.

The reason why this was implemented, was because of what God says in His Word:

Deu 6:5 – 9

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

These days our kids do not have a Bible class in their timetable anymore. This has to do due to respect towards other belief systems which was implemented in the law set rules of basically the whole world. It is as if the Christian belief system is oppressed. The more rules that are set out to oppress any thing like the Christian belief system, the more chaotic this world will become. The thing about God’s Word, it is there to lead us as humans, on the right path. It’s to guide us not to behave in a way that are ungodly, but I know there are many who choose to live against it or to take only a few things out of context out of God’s Word to suit the lifestyles they lead. If I offend someone by what I am saying, the thing is, the truth hurts. God’s Word is truth and whether we like it or not.

Jesus said, or should I state, He asked:

Luk 18:7  And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them?

Luk 18:8  I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

This have been rolling through my head for days on end now. “Will he find faith on earth?”

Will Jesus find faith on earth when He comes again? The thing is if we continue the way we are now, where we do not teach others about God and His Word, will there be faith when Jesus comes? If we do not gather around God’s Word with our family in the evenings, our children will not know Jesus. They will not know how to live their lives and thus they will do whatever the world prescribe, which is ungodly.

Will Jesus find faith when He comes again?

Let us, who are children of God, bring up our children in the Word of God. If we don’t, nowhere else our children will be fed the bread of life. Let’s be responsible and be the salt and light of the world. Let us share the Gospel of Jesus to people. Yes, I have came across many who have pushed me away because of my faith and because of my love for Jesus but keep going. Choose Jesus, choose to tell people no matter what. God says

Do[f] not be afraid of those who kill the body[g] but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.[h]

What hope do we have for the future?

You can either read the article or listen to the article as a podcast episode. Just click on the link to listen to this article.

When you open up any news site, the first thing you will see is anything related to the Covid virus. Then this will follow with events where a country needs a leader or other people who stand up against the current ruling party and the president. Further down the news feed, you will find stories of people who was murdered, robbed and kidnappings. You then leave the news site to go to work. Along the way someone gives you the middle finger before you arive at work. Your day at work is pretty good but you get a call at home after work, of someone you know who was the victim of the Covid virus.

What hope do we have for the future, when the world looks this bleak?

When I was thinking about this topic at hand for today’s podcast, I remember what I used to do and what I do when I look an aswer to a specific topic at hand. Researching the Bible for answers. Quick question: When you are looking for an answer to a specific problem at hand, do you consult man or God? Man can be in the form of Googling the answer to your problem because those articles was written by man but what you read in the Bible, was given to us by God. So what can we hope for the future, when we consult the Word of God?

There’s quite a few things we can stand firm upon, which will give us hope for the future.

  1. God will always be there.

Someone told me that in the past when they were going through a time where there was an operation that they had to go through, that they were scared. This person told me that all that he/she could do through this time where he/she was so scared, was to ask God: Please help me. Please carry me through this and God did. The operation was a success, the person recovered from the operation and God kept this person save when they had to walk outside as part of the recovering exercise.

God states in His Word:

Deu 31:6  Be strong and be courageous; you should not be afraid, and you should not be in dread from their presence, for Yahweh your God is the one going with you; he will not leave you alone and he will not forsake you.”

  • God hears our prayers and help

Many pray about something for a while or for years and after a while or years, they ask why God haven’t helped them with their problem or in their distress. This is a valid question but sometimes I do think God helps us, maybe not in the way that we want it. We want God to help us with certain problem in our way. We keep on praying for it and praying for it but a small voice (or feeling) inside you, keeps on telling you that you should do this. We want God to remove that problem from our life but we do not listen to His guidance, the guidance on the Holy Spirit which is that “knowing” inside of you. That thing you know you should go and do but instead of being obedient, you keep on doing what you want to. God’s Word says:

Psa 34:17  They cry out and Yahweh hears and delivers them from all of their troubles.

There were many times in my life where I prayed for something but I knew that it was not God’s will. We sometimes wonder why God doesn’t heal us or that person we love. We sometimes wonder why bad things happen to those who love God and we wonder about this, that and tomorrow. This can take away the joy from your life. Rather that pondering and keep on wondering, why not ask God for His help, stand up in prayer and continue with your day. Tomorrow you come back, ask Him again and repeat. DO not stress about it for the whole of your day. It will take away your joy.

  • Our current condition, is not our eternity

The world in it’s current condition, is not our eternity. It’s not going to look like this forever, not in it’s current state and not for us as individuals.

Firstly, the world will be made new. We read about this in Revelation.

Rev 21:1  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

The first heaven and the first earth (world as we know it now), will pass away. Will go away. A new earth and heaven, there will be.

For the second part, we find the following in God’s Word:

Joh 14:1  “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

Joh 14:2  In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

Joh 14:3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Earth is not our final destination as believers in Jesus Christ. Jesus says that He went away to prepare a place for you and me, where our Father and His is. In heaven and this place of God the Father have many rooms. There are thus enough place for anyone and everyone who have faith in Jesus.

Although the world in it’s current condition looks bleak and we go through difficulties, remember these three things. You are not alone, God will help and this is not your eternity as believer in Jesus Christ. Hold on to these things. This will pull you through the difficult times, the Word of God which is Jesus.

Do you remember the days where your parents gave you an allowance every month? Our daughter currently has $23 (+/-R423) in her savings account which is money that we gave her as an allowance over a span of a few months. She likes to save her money and when she saw how much money she had in her account; she was surprised. She was under the impression that she had a lot less. When our daughter left the room, I remember the days where a few rand (dollars or whatever currency you grew up with), was like “wow.” It felt as if I had a lot of money and with that money, I could do whatever I wanted.

Php 4:6  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Eph 5:20  giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

I know that the Word of God tells us to be thankful in everything for everything. When I see how happy our child is, about that few Rands, it teaches me to be thankful for what I have. Sometimes we complain that we do not have enough money for ourselves. It’s mortgage, food, utilities bills, school fees, petrol, diesel, car repayments and chocolate bar, massage, haircut, etc. Do you hear the last things that I have mentioned? Chocolate bar, massage, haircut. Those last-mentioned things are like the pocket money our daughter have in her savings account. It’s the little bit of money you have that you spent on yourself, for whatever you desire. But still we complain. Still we want more.

Where are the days where we all were content with the R400 ($23)?

Why are we not happy with the little we do have for ourselves?

My husband and I work for the Lord and the Lord Jesus Christ give us secondhand clothes through others. We then take these clothes and do an outreach to the car guards here in South Africa. When you hear how they scrape a little bit of money together as a team to have something to eat that morning or how the supervisor’s wife have cancer or how some of them live with other people because they are too poor to afford their own home. Then you realize how you take what you have, for granted. How you are not grateful anymore for what God gives you.

Take 5 minutes today, after a long day’s work, and think about what you have in your life.

A dry place to stay in, even if it is only a room. You do not have to sleep on the street.

A home, a mortgage to pay.

Maybe your health is suffering, and your body is full of aches and pains, but you are still alive. Able to spend time with friends or loved ones.

You had a job today that pay a salary, or you may be a housewife who had a long tiring day with house chores and kids. But you have a home to get to at night, lay in a bed and listen to this podcast.

It is easy to get distracted with what we do not have, instead of what we do have. Let us be thankful today and go to God, thanking Him for what we have. Food, home, somewhere to sleep, someone who takes care of us, love and His love for us.

Hul lyk gelykkiger as ekke

Weet jy?

Bv, my ouers was arm so ek gaan ook arm loop deur die lewe.

“Neig jou oor tot my woorde.” M.a.w. vul jou gedagtes met God se Woord.

You don’t leave your house unless ….

You can listen to this article and others, on my podcast channels:

This morning an elderly lady of my church, who I’ve seen in our local grocery shop this morning, reminded me of something. She said: “You don’t leave your house these days without pleading the blood of Jesus over you and your family.”

Psalm 91:1-10 reads in the Contemporary English Version.

Psa 91:1  Live under the protection of God Most High and stay in the shadow of God All-Powerful. Then you will say to the LORD, “You are my fortress, my place of safety; you are my God, and I trust you.” The Lord will keep you safe from secret traps and deadly diseases.  He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall. You won’t need to worry about dangers at night or arrows during the day. And you won’t fear diseases that strike in the dark or sudden disaster at noon. You will not be harmed, though thousands fall all around you. And with your own eyes you will see the punishment of the wicked. The LORD Most High is your fortress. Run to him for safety, and no terrible disasters will strike you or your home.

What this elderly lady was saying this morning, is one of two things. One, is that you start your day with God. In the New Testament, you will read how Jesus went up to the mountain to pray in the early morning hours. (Mark 1:35). Starting your day with God is of utmost importance. This is where you get guidance, comfort, and His promises.

Two, is that God is your protection. In this time of the Covid-19, your protection is God and God alone. We have to wear masks to do our part in protecting ourselves and others around us. We do not tempt God (Luk 4:12), by putting yourself in harm’s way. We put our masks on and we trust that God will keep the virus away from us.

But what if I do get the virus or a loved one?

Then you still trust God that He will help you or your loved one to recover. In everything and in every time, we trust God no matter what.

I want to leave you with something. If you are a believer, a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ, remember that what’s going on now, is temporary. Your life here on earth is a small-time period in eternity. When you leave this life behind, you who have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour will step into the eternal life that God promises. Forever you will be with Him and His presence. What a marvelous thought! And if you haven’t accepted Jesus as of yet, it’s not too late. Then pray with me:

I want to accept you as my Lord and Saviour. I am a sinner and I need you being my Redeemer. Jesus, forgive me of my sin. Here I am Lord. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
