Today’s topic is one which I hear a lot from people.
Many say that they don’t hear the voice of God.
We all desire to hear the One who have created us and the world. The One who are spoken about too little but we know that He excist. We are sometimes in difficult situations where we need to make decisions and in dire need to hear from God. What we should or shouldn’t do. We expect an audible voice to come to us.
Many Spirit filled people, preachers of God’s Word says that the voice of God is one which speaks in your heart. It’s not a loud audible voice but a still, soft one. Before God pulled me to His Son Jesus Christ in 2015, I didn’t understand this. Or so I thought. I will never forget the time in 2015 where I called out to God for help. We have lost everything and lived in a tool shed (Wendy house). I was driving to a client of mine and as I was driving, I was talking to God. It was but a few meters from my client’s home, where I heard: “I love you Marleen.” Immediately I stopped the car because my eyes were full of tears. The presence of God was so much and to have heard His voice, was incredible. From that day on, I knew what God’s voice sounded like. It’s like God’s Word says:
John 10:27-28 – King James Version
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Although I and many state that they can hear God’s voice, you might be frustrated because you never heard God’s voice. At the moment I am going through a very difficult time where I need God’s advice. I need to hear from God daily to know what I should do in the currect situation which I find myself in. So what do I do? I shove my nose into God’s Word every morning and if I get the chance throughout the day, I will do so again. I am constantly seeking, going through and reading the Word of God, which is the Bible, to see what God wants me to do in this situation. Although the advice I get, aren’t the things I want to do, I know that this is what God wants me to do in this situation. I know what His will is and because I love Jesus, I will do God’s will.
It’s not always easy or comfortable to do what God wants us to do because of our flesh who are against His Word. Our flesh that wants to do the things that are opposite of God’s Word for example, when someone hurts you or your family, you don’t want to forgive them or show good towards them. But the thing is, God wants us to do that. He wants us to forgive them like He forgive us and He wants us to show good towards our enemies so that we can be called children of God. What does this mean? That when you forgive and do good to those who persecute you, they will see Jesus. God says:
Mat 5:44-48 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
We ask why we don’t hear God’s voice. It’s because we don’t open up the Bible and read it. Because what is written in the Bible, is God’s voice. Next time when you are in dire need or longing to hear God’s voice, open up your Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, there are many websites out there where you can read the Bible, like Bible.com. Even if you are just doubting whether God love you or when you feel alone, read what God says in His Word. He will never forsake you nor leave you and He loved the world so much, that He have sent His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish.
